hi!

I'm jenny filipetti, an artist, educator, and techno-alchemist, specializing in creating experiences at the threshold where physical and digital worlds meet. Come say hello at CHROMAKAIROS, the techno-alchemy research lab I opened this June in Milano Sud!My work earned a finalist award in the Arte Laguna International Art Prize for the installation Breath Vessels, an interactive data instrument which translates the exhalations of participants into 3D-printed clay vessels. I was also part of the three-person team that prototyped the world’s first wearable luminescent biosensor, a now patented technology which was awarded in the 2017 International Biodesign Challenge at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and exhibited in “The Future Will Be Grown” at the NYC School of Visual Arts. Across fields, my creative practice draws from a wandering background in the arts, biology, semiotics, and computer science to juxtapose human and non-human ways of perceiving and interacting with our surrounding sensory ecology.Since 2020, I've been working with Majestic Collaborations on mechanisms to increase community preparedness for disaster by building cross-fluencies and relationships between arts and event workers and emergency professionals. I volunteer as Creative + Technology Lead for Afro Fashion Week Milan, and cofounded and formerly directed Immersive Denver, a community organization seeking since our first educational summit in 2018 to connect the Colorado experiential creative community, generate new audiences for regional immersive, and advance efforts around performer and participant safety, agency, access and inclusion. It remains the leading regional organization in the United States dedicated to fortifying a local community of immersive artists and designers.I'm a former member of the faculty of Inworks at the University of Colorado, an interdisciplinary initiative dedicated to developing student and community capacities in design thinking, computational thinking, and rapid prototyping towards addressing hard human challenges, such as those of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. I've developed and taught courses and workshops in creative coding, Internet of Things, web design, data visualization, human (and beyond-human) centered design, and other topics at the nexus of design, ecology, and computation. My passion for non-traditional and interdisciplinary education was first sparked at the Auraria Library, where I designed and managed a new suite of creative technology, documentation, and digital rights learning spaces.
